Job Description: Summary: The OR Scheduler in the Operating Room performs a variety of duties associated with the scheduling and coordination of patient procedures. Responsibilities include scheduling surgical procedures (via telephone and fax) for multiple physicians in all surgical services areas. Coordinates special item and equipment needs with OR Buyers, notifies outside contract services of upcoming schedules. Works with physicians and physician's offices on patient arrival times and notifies those patients accordingly. Works closely with Scheduling Manager to facilitate the flow of the daily schedule by coordinating the transportation of patients into the Operating Room. Assists with preference card updates and office notifications as well as other data entry as needed.

Requirements: High School graduate or equivalent. Minimum of two years work experience in the medical field is preferred. Completion of Medical Secretary/Medical Assistant program preferred or have demonstrated success in comparable field. Must have successfully completed a Medical Terminology Course. Computer experience preferred.
