With more than 7,800 employees, BWXT has 14 major operating sites in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. BWXT is currently seeking an Access Control Officer for its Ordnance Tennessee location in Jonesborough, TN.

As an access control officer, one is responsible for monitoring and controlling access to various areas of the facility, ensuring only authorized personnel are allowed entry. This involves tasks such as checking IDs, conducting security screenings, and verifying work badges. In addition, ACO may be required to train new employees on alarm systems and visitor access procedures, as well as maintain and control access to different cleared locations in government contractor facilities. ACO will play a crucial role in assisting EH&S with emergency evacuation situations.

Job Description / Duties:

  • Responsible for facility access, physical security, including supervisor of contract guard service.
  • Assist security manager with investigating security violations and incidents.
  • Verify visitors have proper Identification required for access to certain areas of the facility.
  • Experience using various types of visitor management systems.
  • Train contracted guard force to BWXT security procedures
  • Greet employees and visitors to the facility.
  • Approve visitor request and conduct background screening.
  • Create ID badges for employees and contractors and assign appropriate accesses based on need-to-know principles.
  • Perform routine interior and exterior camera scans utilizing CCTV to identify unusual occurrences.
  • Maintain alertness and notify proper authority of indications of trespassing, fire, and emergency.
  • Oversee writing of daily activity reports (DAR) and incident reports (IR).
  • Support Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Program.
  • Oversee key inventory process

Job Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working in physical security and/or personnel security required.
  • Proof of US Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance, whichever is required.

Additional Desired Skillsets:

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Security professional certification a plus.
  • Active DOD or DOE security clearance.

Pay: $47,000 - $74,000
