School Nutrition Substitute Cook

Education/Experiences: High school diploma/GED preferred or related experience in field. Previous experience and/or certified training in a school or commercial kitchen preferred, but not required.

Summary: To prepare a safe/clean environment inwhich food is made and distributed. Also, provide exceptional customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following, on as needed basis:

• Prepare and serve food according to nutrition guidelines.
• Cleaning equipment according to sanitation guidelines.
• Operation of a commercial dishwasher and other commercial grade kitchen equipment, according to food sanitation and preparation guidelines.
• Maintaining inventory and stock.
• Identify reimbursement student meals.
• Operating our point of sale cash register system.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervision.

Mental Demand: Maintains confidentiality, experiences frequent interruptions; requires concentration and attention to detail; may occasionally deal with distraught or difficult individuals.

Physical Demands: Required to sit for prolonged periods; exposed to visual display terminal for prolonged periods; dexterity and precision required in the operation of a computer. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:

• Lifting

Temperament (Personal Traits): Adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Adaptability to dealing with people beyond giving and receiving instruction. Adaptability to making generalizations, evaluations, or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria.
