PRN Cook Position

Mountain Youth Academy (a UHS company) is seeking a PRN Cook to join our Dietary Team. Position is Full Time located in Mountain City, TN. Mountain Youth Academy is a 120-bed residential treatment facility assisting in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health issues for young adolescent patients. Position Summary: Prepares and cooks meals for patients and employees of the facility by performing the following duties. The employee will be trained in Handle with Care (HWC) and CPR certified to assist in the supervision of patients as needed.

Job Responsibilities and Duties: (include, but are not limited to, the following)

  • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals according to dietary guidelines.
  • Ensure food safety standards are met during food handling and preparation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Collaborate with dietary staff to plan menus that meet the nutritional needs of residents.
  • Support the dietary department in inventory management and food ordering.
  • Provide excellent service during mealtimes, ensuring a positive dining experience for residents.
  • Assist with meal preparation tasks as needed.
  • Follow all health regulations and company policies regarding food service.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid TN Driver's License.
  • Previous experience as a Cook or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience working full service culinary operation in cafeteria style.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and dietary guidelines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with staff and residents.
