Whatever part you play you'll be helping us deliver operational excellence to our customers.At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft.Our new Maintenance Engineer will join a small & friendly team working effectively and efficiently on breakdown and repairs. The team handle the planned scheduled maintenance and all associated tasks on both conventional and CNC machine tools and plant. This is a permanent role.The successful applicant will work night shifts (7pm-7am) on a 17 week rota as below:17 weeks of Wednesday - Friday & every other Saturday17 weeks of Sunday - Tuesday & every other Saturday(3 on - 4 off, 4 on - 3 off)The night shift has an additional 38% shift allowance for the first 35 hours, and 58% for anything extra paid in addition to the basic salary.How You'll ContributeIn this role, you will maintain and diagnose faults on:Machine tool axes including linear guides / rails, motors, gearboxes, lead screws, bearingsMachine guarding both internally and externallyHydraulic and pneumatic systems including counter balance circuits, hydraulic clamping, hydraulic motors, rams, cylindersChecking and topping up various oils, fault finding & diagnostics on complex Machine tools/plant as well as diagnosing faults on rails, gearboxes etcMachine AlignmentsChecking and correction of machine alignments, by clocking bars, datum holes and slip gauges, laser alignments, ball bar testsCorrection by changing parameters in CNC. control, testing with machine cuts/machine cyclesPlantMaintaining mainly associated plant such as CNC milling machines as well as CNC lathes, CNC Gear cutters, Jig Borers, Robots, Swarf conveyors, coolant systems, etc.Electrical AppreciationKnowledge of machine tools electricallyKnowledge of machine parameters and diagnosticsAbility to run calibration programmesHow to disconnect pumps & motorsHow to reset trip & fusesWhat You'll BringA demonstratable background in maintaining 4/5 axis CNC milling machinesPrevious experience in cross functional team workingAbility to understand engineering drawingsExperience in a similar maintenance lead rolePrevious experience working night shiftsWhat We'll OfferCompetitive salary of circa £40,000 (Dependent on experience) + 38% - 58% shift allowance (Total salary circa £55,000)Industry Leading Pension Scheme = we'll match your contributions up to 8% on a 1 : 1.5 basisLife Assurance 8 × salary175 hours annual leave + bank holidaysIncome protectionShopping discountsCycle To Work SchemeEmployee Assistance ProgrammeVirtual GP Clinic for you and immediate familyA collaborative, dynamic working environment with significant opportunity to upskillDiversity and InclusionEveryone is welcome to apply to GKN.
