Technical AuthorSalary: Up to £43,000 per annum (DOE)Location: Clevedon (Hybrid working available)Industry: Engineering / Technical Documentation / ManufacturingOverviewWe are seeking an experienced Technical Author to produce and maintain high‑quality customer documentation for engineering products manufactured in Clevedon and distributed globally. This role will focus on creating clear, accurate, and compliant technical documentation including instruction manuals, spare parts manuals, declarations of conformity, and supporting product documentation for both internal teams and customers. You will work closely with engineers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to ensure documentation is delivered to the highest standards of quality, clarity, and compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical DocumentationPlan, research, write, edit, and maintain technical documentation from concept through to deliveryProduce instruction manuals, spare parts manuals, addendums, and declarations of conformityEnsure documentation follows company house style and quality standardsContent Development & AccuracyTranslate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user‑friendly documentationGather information from technical drawings, existing documentation, SMEs, and direct product interactionEnsure terminology and procedures are consistent, structured, and easy to followImage & Visual Content CreationCreate and manipulate photographs and technical illustrations to support written documentationEnsure visual content complements and enhances technical understandingStakeholder CollaborationWork closely with engineering teams and subject matter experts to verify accuracyCoordinate reviews, proofreading, and document approvals prior to releaseInfluence stakeholders to ensure timely completion and quality of deliverablesCompliance & StandardsEnsure all documentation complies with relevant industry standards and directivesMaintain document control and adherence to internal processes and proceduresSkills & Experience RequiredDegree, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience in mechanical or electromechanical engineeringAlternatively, engineering apprenticeship or forces engineering background consideredMinimum 3 years' experience as a Technical Author within an engineering environmentExperience producing manuals for complex engineering productsExperience using XML authoring applicationsUnderstanding of Component Content Management Systems (CCMS)Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and SharePointExperience with image manipulation tools such as CorelDrawAbility to interpret mechanical drawings and electrical diagrams accuratelyStrong organisation, planning, and attention to detailExcellent communication and stakeholder management skillsAbility to work independently and proactivelyBenefitsFinancial & SecurityBonus up to 7.5% of basic annual salaryPension with company contribution of up to 8%Life assurance of 4 x basic salaryHealth & WellbeingCash health planThriving Wellbeing Programme supporting physical, mental, and social wellbeingDiscounted gym membershipsTime Off25 days holiday (excluding Bank Holidays)On‑site FacilitiesFree parkingAmple cycle storage, lockers, and showersSubsidised canteenDedicated wellbeing and prayer roomApplyIf this role sounds of interest please click apply to send your CV, or contact Kirk at Pertemps, Bristol.#J-18808-Ljbffr
