Job Responsibilities ? Assist patients with safe physical transfers into and out of wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds, using proper body mechanics and lifting techniquesTransport patients between nursing units and ancillary departments using stretchers, wheelchairs, or beds, while ensuring the secure handling of IVs, oxygen tanks, and other medical equipmentEscort and appropriately manage the transportation and documentation of deceased individuals to and from the morgue, following hospital policies and sensitivity guidelinesPick up, sort, and deliver medical supplies, equipment, records, linens, and mail to designated areas throughout the facility as assignedExchange and handle the transport of Nitrous Oxide tanks in compliance with safety regulations and protocolsReturn clean and soiled medical equipment and linens to designated central supply or processing areas to support infection control and resource availabilityClean and maintain transport and support equipment, including wheelchairs, stretchers, and orthopedic frames, ensuring items are sanitized and functionalConstruct and dismantle orthopedic traction systems such as Stryker frames, ensuring proper assembly and adherence to patient care specificationsAssist with duties across various Support Services areas including driving, dispatching, and mailroom support when neededMaintain cleanliness and organization in equipment storage rooms and service areas, including the upkeep of postage machines and other facility toolsUse electronic devices (such as iPods or mobile computers) to receive assignments, track transport activities, and communicate effectively with dispatchPerform additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff to support the overall operation and patient care needs of the facilityPosition Qualifications Minimum Required:NAPreferred:High School Diploma or equivalent or IEP diplomaPrevious hospital experience as aide/orderly, transportation aide or related position.Minimum Required:CPR certification within three months of hirePreferred:Current, un‐restricted Driver's LicenseWork EnvironmentThe work environment is a fast‐paced, climate‐controlled hospital setting with consistent heating and air conditioning. Staff move frequently throughout the facility, often walking or standing for extended periods in busy hallways and patient care areas. The space is clean, well‐lit, and can be noisy at times due to regular hospital activity.Work involves regular interaction with transport and medical equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers, patient beds, oxygen tanks, IV poles, and electronic devices.
