Controller / Senior Accounting & Finance Leader

Position Overview

Our client is a growing company generating approximately $10M in annual revenue, with an average transaction size of $300K to $350K. The business is seeking a hands-on accounting and finance professional who can bring stronger financial discipline, improve reporting, manage P&L visibility, and support continued growth.

The ideal candidate may hold the title of Controller, Finance Manager, or Senior Accountant, depending on experience. The key requirement is a mid-to-senior level accounting professional who can operate independently, improve financial processes, and partner with leadership on business performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting and financial operations for the business.
• Own and improve P&L reporting, analysis, and management visibility.
• Lead month-end close and end-of-month reconciliation processes.
• Track, analyze, and report on COGS, including labor, materials, and overhead.
• Help improve financial controls, reporting accuracy, and overall financial performance.
• Support leadership in evaluating margins, project profitability, cash flow, and operating costs.
• Assist with banking relationships, including support for expanding the company's current $1M line of credit.
• Prepare financial reports and insights to help leadership make informed growth decisions.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and financial workflows.
• Partner with ownership/leadership as a trusted finance resource across the business.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Mid-to-senior level accounting or finance professional.
• Experience in a small to mid-sized company environment, ideally around $10M+ in revenue.
• Strong understanding of P&L management, COGS, labor, materials, overhead, and reconciliations.
• Comfortable being hands-on while also providing financial insight to leadership.
• Able to improve financial reporting and help create better visibility into company performance.
• Experience supporting banking, cash flow, or line-of-credit needs is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, accountability, and follow-through.
• Culture fit is important; the company is open on exact title if the person brings the right level of capability, maturity, and team fit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience preferred.
• Prior experience with month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and cost tracking.
• Experience in construction, manufacturing, distribution, services, or another project/job-cost-driven environment is a plus.
• Strong Excel and accounting system skills.
• CPA is a plus but not required.

Compensation

Compensation will depend on experience, title level, and fit. The company is open to considering both mid-level and senior-level candidates who can strengthen the accounting function and support continued growth.
