Key Duties for Administrative Town Clerk:
  • Maintains office records, issues notices, and records town meeting minutes
  • Handles FOIA requests, research tasks, publishes reports, and serves as notary public
  • Processes town payments, issues permits, answers phones, and takes messages
  • Follows all established policies and procedures
  • Completes any other related tasks as needed
Qualifications and Desired Skills for Administrative Town Clerk:
  • Diploma/GED required; Associate degree in public administration or related field preferred
  • Virginia Clerks of Council certification preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and municipal government functions
  • 1-7 years of relevant work experience (depending on education level)
  • Strong oral/written communication, research, and report preparation skills
  • Physically able to stoop, lift up to 20 lbs occasionally/10 lbs frequently, and perform repetitive motions
