Mountain Youth Academy is centrally located near Johnson City, TN, Boone, NC, and Abingdon, VA. We are a 120-bed residential treatment facility and assist in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health issues for our young adolescent patients. The Residential Counselor provides direct individual and group treatment and other aspects of patient care to patients with psychiatric disorders, addictive disease disorders or related substance abuse or chemical dependency problems or those dually diagnosed with psychiatric and chemically dependency disorders; to ensure the safety and well-being of these patients; to support the maintenance of therapeutic milieu.
The Residential Counselor is responsible for maintaining the overall milieu management and safety of patient and staff in the unit and collaborating effectively with supervisors and management.
Job duties: Completes non-clinical assignment tasks related to the admission, transfer, and discharge process. Ascertains the need for and assists patients with a variety of psychiatric and substance abuse diagnoses in meeting immediate needs with the ultimate goal of self-maintenance under the direction of a supervisor. Assists patients in carrying out their established treatment programs by collaborating with other team members and by participating in ongoing multidisciplinary team meetings with supervisor to assist in reporting of patients' progress. Documents and reports patient progress/regression. Follows procedures which adhere to daily schedules, policies, and practices prescribed by agency name.
