Title: Technical Writer
Location: Akron, OH or remote anywhere in the continental US
Term: 4-5 month contract

Position Overview
Our client, a non profit helping the community by addressing addiction recovery, mental health and overall rehabilitation. We are working directly with the CIO who needs a strong technical writer to help with an upcoming major IT initiative by organizing and getting a good idea of the "current state" and then be able to organize a future state with the help of the CIO.
The Technical Writer is responsible for creating clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation that explains complex technical information. This role works closely with subject matter experts, engineers, and product teams to produce manuals, guides, procedures, and other written materials for internal and external audiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Research, write, edit, and maintain technical documentation IT/technology related initiatives and projects
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand language
• Collaborate with engineers, developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to gather information
• Ensure documentation is accurate, consistent, and aligned with company standards and branding
• Review and update existing documentation as products, systems, or processes change
• Organize and structure content for readability and usability
• Manage document versions and maintain documentation repositories
• Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to understand and document technical concepts
• Strong attention to detail and organization skills
• Proficiency with common documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Confluence, or similar)
• Familiarity with style guides and documentation standards
• Experience working with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams
• Basic understanding of technical systems, software development, or APIs (depending on role)
