Description:

The Operations Finance Manager serves as a key financial leader supporting manufacturing and operational activities across multiple locations throughout North America. This role provides financial oversight for plant operations, production performance, and cost management in a food manufacturing environment. The position partners closely with Operations leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and effective financial support for operational decision-making.
The role drives operational financial performance through cost analysis, forecasting, standardized processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Operations Finance Manager leads financial planning, forecasting, and analytical activities for manufacturing and operations functions.
  • The role ensures alignment with corporate objectives, financial targets, and operational priorities.
  • The position provides financial leadership and oversight to plant accounting and cost accounting teams.
  • The role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting across manufacturing locations.
  • The Operations Finance Manager partners closely with plant leadership and operations teams.
  • The role analyzes labor, material, overhead, and conversion cost drivers to improve efficiency and profitability.
  • The position ensures consistent application of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls across manufacturing sites.
  • The Operations Finance Manager oversees standard cost systems, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variance analysis.
  • The role supports productivity and cost improvement initiatives, including labor efficiency, yield improvement, waste reduction, and overhead management.
  • The position guides finance teams in the use of KPIs, operational metrics, and manufacturing performance indicators.
  • The role provides financial analysis and decision support for capacity planning, production strategies, and capital investments.
  • The Operations Finance Manager identifies opportunities for process improvements, automation, and system enhancements to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
  • The role serves as a key liaison between plant finance teams, operations leadership, and corporate finance.
  • The position coordinates and supports annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes for manufacturing operations.
  • The role coaches, mentors, and develops operations finance and accounting staff.
  • The position fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • The Operations Finance Manager supports audits, internal reviews, and compliance activities.
  • The role participates in special projects and system implementations as required.
  • The position performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education/Certifications and Experience:
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA or MBA is preferred.
  • The role requires a minimum of eight years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
  • Experience in food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods is strongly preferred.
  • The position requires a strong background in cost accounting, inventory management, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing and distribution operations across North America is strongly preferred.
  • Financial modeling experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficient use of a computer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote), and other related applications or software.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP is required.
  • The role requires strong knowledge of manufacturing and supply chain finance principles.
  • This includes cost accounting, inventory accounting, and logistics-related cost management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Experience working with financial systems such as SAP is required.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills are essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • The ability to influence and partner across operations, supply chain, and executive leadership is critical.
  • The role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience managing teams are required.
  • The ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for operational stakeholders is essential.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Manage and develop direct reports in accordance with organizational needs.
  • Work requires supervising and monitoring work performance of direct reports including making final decisions on hiring and disciplinary actions, evaluating program/work objectives and effectiveness, and realigning work and staffing assignments, as needed.
  • Develop functional responsibilities of individuals that report to this position and ensure that best in-class output is created.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
  • Combination of office, manufacturing plant, and remote work environments.
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments requiring appropriate safety measures.
  • Must be able to lift up and carry 15 pounds at times.
  • Travel on an as-needed basis, which may vary depending on business requirements (30%).

$93,598.00 - $173,668.00

Actual compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as geographic location.
