Job Overview

We are seeking a dependable Shop Hand with welding experience to join our manufacturing team in Piney Flats, TN. This role primarily supports daily operations within our metal roofing and carport manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-minded, and willing to assist wherever needed, with the ability to perform welding tasks as assigned. This position plays a key role in keeping production running smoothly through material handling, carport assembly support, and occasional welding projects.

Key Responsibilities

General Shop & Production Support

• Assist with carport assembly and fabrication processes.
• Load, unload, and move lumber, steel, and other materials throughout the facility.
• Support manufacturing operations by completing assigned shop duties as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Welding (Occasional / As Needed)

• Perform MIG welding on base rails for carports and other assigned welding projects.
• Prepare materials for welding by measuring, cutting, and positioning components.
• Inspect welds to ensure quality, strength, and compliance with specifications.

Equipment & Safety

• Properly use and maintain shop tools, welding equipment, and machinery.
• Follow all safety guidelines, including PPE requirements and safe material handling practices.
• Report hazards, equipment issues, or quality concerns to supervisors.

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with plant personnel to meet production goals and deadlines.
• Assist other departments as needed to support overall plant operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Welding experience preferred (certification a plus, but not required).
• Basic MIG welding knowledge and ability to weld structural components.
• Willingness to perform general labor and shop duties.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to follow instructions.
• Team-oriented mindset with good communication skills.
• Commitment to workplace safety.
