Summary:
Coordinates activities of the PET/CT Department. Supervises the preparing, administering and measuring of radioactive isotopes. Performs and assists with PET/CT studies. Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in the Radiation Safety Committee. Ensures competency of PET/CT personnel. Assists in formulating the budget. Maintains efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all TJC, federal, state and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols.

The PET/CT quality control tech will be of strong ethical character. He or she will adhere to the SNMT Clinical Performance Standards for Technologists, to include the administration and monitoring of adjunctive medication(s) used during an in-vitro, diagnostic imaging, or therapeutic procedure. Adjunctive medications are defined as those medications used to evoke a specific physiological or biochemical response.

The PET/CT quality control technologist will ensure that timely and appropriate care is delivered to patients of all ages ranging from neonates to geriatrics in accordance with quality standards established the Department of Diagnostic Imaging. The incumbent will act as liaison between patient, family, and physician. The technologist will perform all patient care and examination duties assigned to PET/CT technologists.

The PET/CT quality control technologist assists with establishing specific operational and performance improvement goals and objectives for the department, and is actively involved in recording, analyzing, and reporting the department monitors established for this purpose. The incumbent assists with planning and preparation of the PET/CT Operational and Capital Equipment budgets, and ensures efficient day to day operations with relation to approved budgets.

The PET/CT quality control technologist is responsible for a work schedule being created and posted in a timely manner. This schedule is based on equal shouldering of responsibilities by all department members. The schedule should demonstrate a work approach that maximizes work flow and personnel utilization. The incumbent will assume call responsibilities if call is utilized in the department.

The PET/Ct quality control technologist maintains strict confidentiality in matters relating to patients and personnel. The incumbent promotes a good working environment in the department.

The PE/CT quality control technologist will be responsible to ensure that all logs, records, and quality control testing essential to the Radioactive Materials license, the NRC, and the State of Tennessee Health and Rehabilitative Services are maintained appropriately.

The PET/CT quality control technologist will possess the skills and personal characteristics that are essential for success, e.g. dependability, exceptional organizational skills, self-motivation and initiative, cooperation, team mentality and approach to problem solving, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to paint the bigger picture and re-engineer work processes to accomplish efficiency for self and supervised others, portraying self, team, and department in a professional manner.

Requirements:
Must be ARRT registered in Radiology or Nuclear Medicine or certified by N.M.T.C.B. Possess an Associate of Science at minimum, B.S. degree in Nuclear Medicine from an accredited nuclear program preferred. Ideal candidate would have a minimum of two years of hospital based technical experience in PET/CT.
