Join us at Tilted Tavern to do some cleaning for and socializing with our beloved residents! DATES AND TIMES MAY CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER OR STAFF AVAILABILITY. VOLUNTEERS MUST SIGN UP AND SCHEDULE SHIFT BEFORE ATTENDING.

Tasks may involve but are not limited to the following:

• Removing and replacing old bedding (pine shavings and straw)
• Cleaning plastic and rubber water and food dishes of various sizes
• Picking up feces in enclosures that house goats, pigs, and birds
• Giving hay to goats, cows, or horses
• Checking fencing
• Organizing the barn, shed, and other facilities
• Refilling food bins

Socializing includes but is not limited to:

• Brushing, belly rubs, and giving healthy snacks to our more social residents (goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, horses, and cows)
• All of our residents are individuals and vary on how social they are in general or may be on any particular day or moment just like us ;)
• Certain animals will be off limits when it comes to making direct contact inside their enclosure due to potential liability issues and for their well-being and safety

We do not have the following currently:

• Restrooms
• Electricity (AC or heat)
• Inside facilities (except for our barn and food shed)

But we do have these:

• Water bottles
• Disinfectant
• Hand warmers if needed
• Friendly goats
• Lots of appreciation for your time
• Pigs with a LOT of personality
• Fun supervisors (self-described)
• Very, very chatty geese

If can be incredibly muddy during the winter, fall, and actually throughout the entire year. So we recommend wearing rain or work boots if you have them. Definitely wear shoes, pants, and a top(s) that you don't mind getting dirty, covered in hay, or possibly damaged. We recommend wearing pants over shorts.

Some of the work does involve lifting heavy items up to 50 pounds. But if you are unable, please know there are plenty of other tasks that do not require heavy lifting. If there is a severe weather warning or thunderstorms, we will reschedule. But otherwise, we may work when it is quite warm, cold, or while it is raining (depending on severity).
