Job Summary

ETSU is accepting applications for a Maintenance Utility Helper at the Valleybrook location. Employees in this class are under close supervision. Work to be performed assisting a semi-skilled worker in a variety of semi-skilled maintenance tasks including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and masonry; Mowing and weed eating performing related work as required.

A background check is required.

Must be available to work any shift or schedule, including overtime as required. Facilities staff may be expected to report during emergency closures or inclement weather to perform essential duties, including snow removal.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of the materials and equipment used in general maintenance and construction.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures.
• Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Ability to carry out simple oral instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
• Ability to understand and use the materials and equipment used in custodial work.
• Ability to follow simple instructions.
• Ability to perform light to heavy manual labor.

Required Qualifications

• Successful completion of tenth grade.

Preferred Qualifications

• Some experience in maintenance/custodial related work experience.

Salary
$16.71 an hour
