Job Summary

The ETSU College of Nursing invites applications for a full-time Quality Assurance Coordinator for the Office of Practice.

The Quality Assurance and Regulatory Coordinator position provides support to the Executive Director (ED) and Clinical Director (CD) of the ETSU College of Nursing Clinics and Office of Practice for all Quality Assurance activities.

This position leads and manages the quality assurance and compliance functions for ETSU College of Nursing clinics, ensuring adherence to local, state, federal and funding agency regulations. The QA Coordinator collaborates with executive leadership to develop and implement QA policies, conduct audits and risk assessments, oversee data accuracy, and identify improvement opportunities, The role coordinates compliance training, facilitates continuous quality improvement meetings, supports regulatory reporting, and engages with insurance agencies on health initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required:

  • Strong knowledge of quality improvement methodologies (e.g. PDSA, Lean, Six Sigma basics.)
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with healthcare compliance standards, HIPAA regulations, OSHA, and other accreditation requirements.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and present findings effectively.
  • Ability to educate and motivate staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and electronic health records (EHR).

Preferred (RN-specific):
  • Clinical expertise in patient care processes and nursing practice standards.
  • Ability to apply clinical judgement to quality reviews and patient safety initiatives.
  • Experience with case management, care coordination, or utilization review.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in fields relevant to the role, i.e. Nursing, Health Information Management (HIM), Health Information Technology (HIT), Healthcare Administration/Health Services Administration, Public Health/Community Health, Health Informatics, Legal Compliance with a Healthcare emphasis, or other related disciplines.
  • One (1) year of relevant work experience.
  • Equivalent qualifications: Associate's degree plus three (3) or more years of related experience; OR five (5) years of related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Active RN license in TN or multi/compact-state.
  • Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC).
  • Certification in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC).
  • Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA).
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ).
