Summary:
The Maintenance Engineer, Lead will ensure that the hospital's environment is safe and comfortable, essential utilities are delivered without interruption, and mechanical systems and equipment operate safely, accurately and reliably. This individual will perform, under minimal supervision, a variety of skilled maintenance and preventative maintenance duties in the repair, alteration and modification of buildings, utilities, equipment and facilities. The Lead is responsible for coordinating all maintenance needs for the respective area: Power House, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical. The Lead will cross train to fill in for other employees as necessary.

Requirements:
Associate's degree preferred. Must have a minimum of ten years of Power House/mechanical/plumbing/electrical experience in a hospital or institutional setting. Equal experience in skilled construction work is acceptable. Military maintenance and equipment service experience is also acceptable. Must have journeyman knowledge of electrical, mechanical or plumbing trade, including tools, materials, terminology and practices. Mechanical/plumbing experience shall include the ability to install duct work, mixing boxes, dampers, grilles, and registers. Install or modify HVAC systems, and a working knowledge of control systems. Must also demonstrate the knowledge and ability to install medical gas systems and outlets and understand other piped utility systems. Must have a working knowledge of the applicable codes. Journeyman level experience in electrical distribution systems, electrical switchgear/transfer systems, and electrical wiring. Journeyman level experience in Power House operations, including steam generation/distribution and chiller operations. Shall have the ability to read and follow written instruction, read and follow equipment schematics, read and interpret blueprints, use tools and instruments common to their trade.
