PRN Intake Coordinator - Nightshift


Creekside Behavioral Health in Kingsport, Tennessee invites applicants for this part?time role.


About the Job: The Intake Coordinator is the single point of entry for in?patient admissions. Duties include phone triage, addressing service requests, patient call?backs, pre?registration, insurance eligibility verification, and coordination with the insurance company. The Coordinator facilitates admission assessment, maintains communication with referral sources, and provides education on available services.


Roles and Responsibilities:



  • Conduct pre?admission screenings and schedule assessments.

  • Collaborate with business office, nursing, and clinical staff to ensure timely patient admission.

  • Refer inquiries to community resources when facility admission is not appropriate.

  • Provide information and referral services for internal and external customers.

  • Present clinical information to medical staff for intake approval.

  • Offer crisis intervention services as needed.

  • Verify insurance eligibility upon intake.

  • Maintain all documentation involved in the admissions process.

  • Communicate ongoing status updates with referral sources and promote available services.

  • Provide clerical support to admissions, including collating folders, auditing charts, and monitoring waiting room patients.


Education, Experience, and Skills:



  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelors degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field preferred.

  • At least one year of experience in healthcare admissions, preferably in mental health or substance use disorder settings.

  • Experience with patient assessment, referral, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations.

  • Knowledge of community resources.

  • Outstanding interpersonal, interviewing, and assessment skills; proficiency in telephone etiquette and paging procedures.


Certifications:



  • CPR and de?escalation and restraint certification required.

  • First aid certification may be required based on state or facility requirements.
