Overview

BWX Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: BWXT) is currently seeking a strategic HR Business Partner for the Nuclear Fuel Services Group, located in Erwin, TN. This is an onsite role reporting to the local HR Manager. BWXT is a defense/energy company with facilities in the U.S., Canada and the U.K., and a focus on safe and effective nuclear solutions for global security, clean energy, environmental restoration, nuclear medicine and space exploration. This position supports a safety and quality-driven 24-7 manufacturing operation.

Responsibilities
  • Lead from the Middle: Collaborate with managers to provide day-to-day HR guidance, understand needs and challenges, and offer tailored solutions.
  • Promote Employee Development: Partner with management and employees to improve employee relations, foster career development, lead succession planning, boost morale, and increase productivity.
  • Monitor Workforce Planning: Support staffing plans with hiring manager consultation; requisition initiation; interview participation; offer creation and delivery; onboarding and new hire orientation.
  • Analyze Trends and Metrics: Use HR data to identify trends, track performance, and inform business decisions; forecast and drive improvements with metrics.
  • Resolve Complex Employee Relations Issues: Address conflicts, allegations, conduct concerns and disciplinary actions, aiming for fair resolutions and a respectful work environment.
  • Suggest New HR Strategies: Propose approaches to improve processes, reduce span of control, enhance employee experiences, and support BWXTs mission.
  • Provide HR Policy Guidance: Interpret and communicate HR policies across all levels, ensuring compliance and consistency.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in human resources, business, or a closely related field.
  • At least ten (10) years of progressive human resources experience, including significant labor relations experience; at least five (5) years in a manufacturing environment directly supporting a unionized workforce.
  • Ability to report to an assigned manufacturing plant. This is a 100% onsite role.
  • Support for a safety and quality driven, 24-7 manufacturing operation with the ability to work occasional adjusted schedules (early mornings, second shift, plant initiatives, after-hours investigations, and pre-planned weekend events).
  • U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.
Preferred Experience
  • Lean Six Sigma certification.
Compensation and Benefits

Pay: $77,000 $112,000 per year. The base salary range is for TN at the start of employment and may vary based on local market factors, candidate knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may include an annual cash incentive and a full range of medical, retirement, and other benefits. Details will be provided with an offer. If hired, employment is at-will, unless covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The company reserves the right to modify compensation and benefits.
