Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is a year-round, not-for-profit LORT C professional theater and community cultural center located in the heart of Sag Harbor, NY. Since 1991, we've been recognized as “one of the country's pre‑eminent regional theatres” (CBS Sunday Morning), producing world premieres, developing new works, and creating transformative theater experiences for audiences of all ages.

Position Summary

Bay Street Theater seeks an experienced and visionary Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead all fundraising and advancement initiatives during a pivotal period of growth. The CDO will serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, working closely with the Executive Director, Artistic Director, Deputy Director, and Board of Trustees to shape the organization's development strategy and secure sustainable funding to support our $5–6 million annual budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute a comprehensive fundraising and advancement plan, focusing on major gifts ($25,000+).
• Manage and expand individual, foundation, and corporate giving.
• Build and mentor a high‑performing development team.
• Strengthen donor engagement through events, communications, and relationship management.
• Oversee Tessitura CRM and all development operations, stewardship, and reporting.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of progressive fundraising experience, including major gifts and team leadership.
• Demonstrated success cultivating and soliciting principal gifts.
• Strong communication, analytical, and storytelling abilities.
• Proficiency with CRM systems (Tessitura preferred).
• Passion for the performing arts and mission‑driven organizations.
