Position Overview:

As a Patient Care Technician, you will be trained to assist with non-invasive clinical patient needs, and have the opportunity to earn certifications as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) and Basic Life Support (BCLS-CPR). You will be expected to perform clinical duties in accordance with Holston Medical Group's standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for examinations
  • Obtain and document vital signs and measurements in Electronic Health Records (EHR)
  • Dispose of contaminated supplies correctly
  • Assist with Urine Drug Screen (UDS) collections
  • Perform nursing checks including expiration dates on samples/medications
  • Conduct Non-Stress Tests (NST's)
  • Assist with sterilization of medical instruments
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean, well-stocked, and properly maintained
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
  • Effectively document vital signs in medical records using computer skills
  • Attend scheduled meetings and educational opportunities
  • Be flexible to work in different office locations as needed
  • Obtain prior authorizations and pre-certifications
  • Perform Electrocardiograms (EKG's)
  • Manage referrals and track compliance with ordered tests
  • Handle various administrative patient-related documents
  • Chaperone patients as needed
  • Provide direct patient support and escort
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and efficient work environment
  • Regularly engage with patients to ensure their needs are met
  • Manage sharps containers and biohazard waste
  • Perform eye exams, including IRIS and Snellen chart tests
  • Maintain required certifications
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned

Work Environment:

This position involves a combination of office tasks, clinical examination rooms, and diagnostic areas, with rare exposure to communicable diseases and other clinical challenges typically found in a multi-specialty medical clinic.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required
  • Licensure/Certification: Completion of a sponsored training program
