Snap-on Elizabethton, Tennessee is seeking an Engineering Technician to program and troubleshoot Swiss CNC machines.

Position Summary: Creates and optimizes CNC programs for Swiss-style turning machines, ensuring precision and efficiency in the production of small, complex parts. Key responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, selecting appropriate tooling, setting up machines, and troubleshooting program-related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Developing new CNC programs and refining existing ones for Swiss-style lathes.
  • Choosing the correct tooling for specific machining operations, considering material properties and desired surface finish.
  • Preparing Swiss lathes for production, including setting offsets, loading stock, and verifying tool positions.
  • Identifying and resolving issues related to programming, tooling, or machine operation.
  • Suggesting and implementing improvements to machining processes to reduce cycle time and improve tool life.
  • Maintaining accurate records of programs, setups, and process changes.
  • Working with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure product manufacturability.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CNC programming languages (G-code, M-code) and CAM software.
  • Knowledge of Swiss-style turning machines and tooling.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T specifications.
  • Understanding of machining processes, material properties, and tooling selection.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of design and gauging practices.
  • Training of operators as needed.
