Overview


Corebridge Financial is seeking a Senior Underwriting Consultant to join the underwriting organization, which focuses on delivering a best-in-class customer experience by underwriting new life applications and assessing medical and financial risk on individual life insurance applications. The Senior Underwriting Consultant will accurately assess medical and financial risk, protect mortality results, and support sales. The role requires a customer-centric and relationship-focused approach, excellent communication skills, and accountability for accurate and prompt processing. This position reports to the Underwriting Director and will work with Case Managers, Internal & External Wholesalers, and NMOs/Firms.


Responsibilities



  • Underwrite complex formal applications and informal quote applications with the ability to take final action independently within approval authority guidelines.

  • Analyze complex information and interpret it to reach comprehensive medical and financial assessments based on company guidelines and policy.

  • Effectively manage change, defuse conflict, and negotiate positive results.

  • Take a cross-functional view of work processes and understand the ramifications to other areas of action and decisions made.

  • Be organized and able to manage a large caseload.

  • Demonstrate superior technical underwriting knowledge and skills.

  • Provide training to internal and external customers on underwriting topics.

  • Interact independently and effectively with a sophisticated field force dealing with an upscale market.


What Were Looking For



  • Experience with various distribution systems

  • 5+ years of life underwriting experience with competence handling mid-level face amount cases

  • Approval authority up to $7,000,000

  • FLMI, FALU and/or CLU designations preferred or progress toward these designations


Compensation


The anticipated salary range for this position is $110,000 to $118,000 for select locations (CA, DC, HI, IL, MD, MN, NJ, NY, VT, WA) at commencement of employment. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the range. Actual compensation offered will depend on location, skills, experience and other qualifications. The position is eligible for a discretionary bonus under the applicable incentive plan.
