Job Summary
The Retention Coordinator reports to the Associate Director of TRIO-Student Support Services. Their main responsibility is to assist in providing services to high-risk traditional-aged freshman students, continuing program participants, and transfer students through the federally funded TRIO programs, specifically the Student Support Services STEM and Health Sciences program. The Retention Coordinator will also help recruit the 345 eligible participants as outlined in the grant application. The primary goal of the Retention Coordinator is to support this high-risk population of students, helping them persist toward graduation and enrollment in Graduate School. Additionally, the Retention Coordinator Program will play a key role in developing and implementing Ronald McNair's summer program services for undergraduate students from disadvantaged backgrounds who have expressed interest in graduate education. The Retention Coordinator will participate in university committees, attend state and regional TRIO Conferences, and take part in national professional development workshops and trainings. Their role is to ensure that TRIO-Student Support Services is fully committed to the needs of students and provides quality services in line with the university's mission statement and assisting their efforts in persisting toward graduation and enrollment in Graduate School.
