Job Type TemporaryDescriptionPurpose : The Laboratory Technologist performs tasks within a wide scope of laboratory functions. This position is responsible for the receipt, organization, testing, and reporting, as assigned, of daily patient specimens, as well as first level instrument maintenance and troubleshooting with the support of laboratory staff. The lab technologist will adhere to protocols and quality measures while performing sample preparation and operating laboratory instrumentation.Competencies: Competency evaluations will be performed by your supervisor/manager and the medical director at 5 months of employment and annually thereafter.Duties : •Perform production workflow as described in standard operating procedures•Perform sample preparation as described in standard operating procedures•Perform daily LCMS instrumentation operations•Maintain laboratory documentation•Complete projects, other tasks, and assignments as directed by management•Perform routine Quality Assurance/Quality Control tasks•Manage lab inventory and order additional supplies as needed and in compliance with process instructions from managers•Maintain integrity of process, following and reporting QA/QC occurrences•Work to ensure process is compliant with the lab's standard operating procedures as well as relevant laws, rules, and regulations applicable to the laboratory•Proactively promote client satisfaction•Works independently and as part of the teamAdditional Responsibilities: •Completes mandatory training and professional development as required or requested•Attends company meetings as required or requested•Ensures adherence to all State and Federal laws, guidelines and regulations including compliance with CLIA and CAP regulations•Maintain HIPAA requirements at all times•Adheres specifically to all company policies and procedures, Federal and State regulations and laws•Participation in appropriate Continuing Education as requested and required by their immediate supervisor. The employee is expected to accept personal responsibility for other educational activities to enhance job related skills and abilities•Must attend mandatory educational programs and maintain current professional licensures as delineated in their state, in good standingPhysical, Emotional Demands, and Work Conditions: Vision, hearing, speech, movements requiring the use of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. Must have the ability to view a computer screen for long periods and the ability to sit and stand for extended periods. Keen visual activity with the ability to recognize colors and patterns. Ability and willingness to lift up to 30 lbs. Requires the ability to walk, climb, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, and bend at waist. Exposed to moving parts and electricity that requires safety protocols. Learning, thinking, concentration and the ability to work under pressure, particularly during busy times. Must be able to pay close attention to detail and be able to work as a member of a team to ensure excellent customer service. Must have the ability to interact effectively with co-workers and customers, and exercise self-control and diplomacy in customer and employee relations situations. Must have the ability to exercise discretion as well as appropriate judgement when necessary. Must be proactive in identifying issues and finding solutions.Requirements Laboratory Technologist Requirements: •Associate's degree in medical laboratory technology or bachelor's degree in medical technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related discipline•Qualifies as high complexity laboratory technologists under CLIA and relevant State regulations•Must have a Tennessee Medical Lab Professional State License•Knowledge of troubleshooting and problem-solving procedures•At least 1-2 years in a laboratory environment preferred•Experience in biological sample preparation preferred•LCMS experience preferredSkills Needed: •Ability to work independently and cohesively as part of a team•Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a dynamic environment•Excellent written and verbal communication skills•Comfortable with instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
