Job Summary

ETSU's College of Business and Technology (CBAT) is seeking a Director of Career Services to lead and enhance its career services program, helping students and alumni achieve their professional goals. This role involves overseeing a wide range of initiatives, including building and managing employer relationships, organizing career fairs and networking events tailored to CBAT, providing personalized career coaching, and integrating advanced technologies to improve the reach and effectiveness of career services.

This dynamic role also includes developing and expanding internship opportunities, cultivating new employer partnerships, and increasing student engagement with career services. The Director will collaborate with ETSU Career Services, secure corporate sponsorships, support alumni post-graduation, and lead marketing efforts to raise awareness of CBAT's programs and student capabilities. The position plays a critical part in preparing students for career success and tracking outcomes such as employment rates and starting salaries.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of career services, programming and delivery at the collegiate level.
  • Knowledge of the business environment and issues impacting local, regional, and national employers.
  • Knowledge of higher education administration and culture.
  • Knowledge of student advisement pertains to internship program delivery.
  • Ability to envision and execute a strategic marketing plan for career services and event management.
  • Ability to leverage technology in delivery of career services to stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze the effectiveness of career services programming.
  • Ability to track and analyze student internship and outcomes data.
  • Knowledge of Goldlink, EAB Navigate, Handshake, D2L or similar programs.
  • Ability to provide career counseling and coaching for individuals and groups of undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Ability to manage a budget.
  • Ability to plan and execute college specific career fairs.
  • Ability to collect feedback from students, employers, and faculty regarding career development programming.
  • Ability to communicate well with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to build and foster relationships with external partners/employers.
  • Ability to incorporate AI into career services programming.
  • Ability to educate students about how to leverage AI for career readiness.
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in higher education or business setting
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in related field and a minimum of 2 years of experience in higher education or business setting.
  • Familiarity with delivery of career services function in a university setting.
  • Experience with internship program development and management preferred.
  • Experience integrating career readiness skills across career services function.
  • Experience working in a student success team setting.
  • Experience as a student-centered career services professional, familiar with career coaching protocols and resources.
  • Experience growing career services engagement across all stakeholders.
  • Experience with information management and marketing to increase CBAT student engagement.
  • Experience with project management and optimizing operations for efficiency.
  • Experience with strategic visioning, benchmarking, and data analytics in career services.
  • Familiarity with Goldlink, EAB Navigate, Handshake, D2L or similar programs.
